Horsemanship

If you really enjoy the horses, join our Horsemanship classes and learn all about caring for these animals. In the big, wide halls of the barn, several horses can be cross-tied for the girls to curry and brush and then saddle. This means that our campers who really love horses can now spend an additional activity period a day at the barn helping to care for their favorite horses.

By the end of the session, the camper will have learned a great deal about the total care needed by a horse and something about the signs to watch for in keeping a horse healthy.

Campers may undertake the feeding schedule to learn that not all animals eat alike. The girls enjoy treating minor cuts and giving First Aid to the animals. Care of the tack is important also. You can learn how to care for your saddle and gear as well as everything you need to know about the horse. You’ll learn that it isn’t as simple as you thought – but it’s so much fun!
